Within the framework of The Sewing Project, women are taught basic sewing skills, they learn to make sporting apparel such as bibs and tracksuits for local sports teams. They also learn how to respond to the needs of the community and market, hence creating feasible products accordingly. The Local Sport Councils form an integral part of the project and strives to reach the objectives of the program which are to create opportunities for these women to earn money, be creative, develop entrepreneurial skills and improve self-esteem. The project also empowers the women, as the skills they learn can enable them to find employment in the future. |
